BlackBerry makes pretty solid devices in terms of its quality and its operating system. However if there is one thing that they don’t have is a strong ecosystem, unlike iOS or Android where there are millions of apps to choose from. Granted you don’t need all of them, but it’s always nice to have options.

This is something that BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen admitted the company needs to work on. Speaking at a talk at the Churchill Club in Palo Alto, California, Chen said that BlackBerry devices need more apps, but interestingly enough he stopped short of admitting that the company was working on a BlackBerry Android handset.

I agree, Blackberry smartphones need more apps. I also think Blackberry smartphones need more games.

meh, I never like all those many apps in the first place.

I agree, I don't really like installing the many apps on my devices. Plus, most of the stuff the apps do like weather, searching the web, social networking, etc can be done visiting a website like Yahoo, Google, Facebook, and Twitter on a web browser.

Oh really? Ya' think? *sarcasm*

Of course they need more apps. They don't even have Instagram, for God's sake! Instagram has been around for, like, what? 5 years? No Vine, no Snapchat, no Kik, no Whatapp...

Blackberry can run Android Apps from the Amazon App stores, so Instagram, Vine, Snapchat, Kik, and WhatsApp could be emulated on Blackberry.

Blackberry does have an official Blackberry version of WhatsApp at https://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/2360/?countrycode=CA&lang=en
