The photo-sharing app Instagram has quietly begun rolling out multi-account support for the average user. While this will be most helpful to those that have accounts for their artwork, accounts for their personal matters, and accounts for their cats, you'll see the benefit for work-use users as well. This update will be appearing in version 7.12.0 of the app, popping up for Beta testers first. Of course you could also just head over to the APK download if you do so choose.

To add a new account, users will have to head to Options (under the three dots button), pull up, and find the "Add Account" button. Tap it! Once you're there, you'll be able to log in with multiple accounts. It's like magic. You'll then be able to switch them up just like you would in Gmail, just tapping the upper left-hand corner of your display to switch.

I think it is kind of strange that it took so long for Instagram to make their app have multi-account support. This is good news for kids who have separate Instagram accounts, but share an Android tablet or smartphone with each other.

I only wish you didn't need a cell phone to make Instagram account in the first place.

I agree, the cell phone and tablet requirement to make a Instagram Account is annoying since most people still sign-up for sites like social networks, and forums from sign-up pages on websites on a web browser because it is more convenient.

You can probably also use a Google Android Emulator/Virtual Machine program like Bluestack or VirtualBox for Windows to run Android within Windows to install Instagram on it to sign-up for Instagram.

I think it just be simpler to use your phone than to set up a VM on your PC.

I agree it is probably easier for most people to use their phone to sign-up for Instagram.

If you already have a VM software like VirtualBox or VMWare installed on your PC, sometimes you can download, and mount a pre-made VM file of Android on your VM software which is not too hard if you are used to mounting a VM file on VM software.
