The beta/demo for PES 2017, the new soccer/football game from Konami is currently out. I have played it for an hour and wanted to share a few impressions. Feel free to share yours below.

To start off, I have never played a PES game before - I am trying this demo as a FIFA fan who wanted to try something new to see if I was missing out.

The demo immediately had a different feel to FIFA 16. The controls and movement of the players felt a lot more slower, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing as I think you could argue that the game felt more realistic to football as a result.

Controls were a big problem for me only due to the fact that they were different to FIFA. I often found myself for the first couple of games pressing a different button that what I needed to (doing an air pass rather than shooting, ect). But after a few red cards from accidental slide tackles I got used to the controls and feel they offer more variety in movement and passing than FIFA currently offers. For example, aside from pressing the wrong buttons at the start - I feel the players did what I asked of them and what I wanted them to do (i.e. quick one touch passes) which isn't something I can always say for FIFA.

In terms of UI, I would probably say I prefer FIFA's. The UI offered is usable of course, but I find it more bland and a bit more clunky than the UI on offer in EA's annual releases.

Please share your opinions below. I will be sure to keep playing and expand on my impressions.

I thought Konami stop making games?
