The HP 14-an013nr looks like one of the better New $200 Windows 10 laptops for playing some games like Minecraft and Dota 2 because it has 4 GB RAM, and a faster 1.8GHz Quad Core AMD E2 APU/CPU, and Radeon R2 videochip.

It also has a 14-Inch 1080P screen, 32 GB SSD drive, SD card reader, 3 USB port. VGA, HDMI, wired Ethernet networking and 802.11AC wi-fi.

Not bad for that kind of money really.

I can't see gaming on a laptop. I mean I did it a few years ago, mainly just Minecraft and my laptop was $700 and it barely ran that game. They must be doing them better these days. I have an HP Envy. Not sure the exact model. I think it came out in 2012.

I agree, the HP an013nr is not bad for $200 since you get 4GB of RAM, a 1080P 14 inch screen, and Radeon R2 graphics which seem like a lot of decent features for $200 which can't buy a lot of good individual computer parts at a store.

Most older laptops from a few years ago mostly came with slower Intel HD onboard graphics, or slower Nvidia or AMD onboard graphics chips which were only good for 2D programs like MS Word, web browsers, and playing 720P or lower resolution video files. But, the video chips were bad for playing games. The RAM in old laptops used slower DDR2 RAM, or slower DDR3 ram. The video chip also used the slower RAM on the laptop for video RAM which is needed to show video with the video chip. The CPU processors and video chip temperature ran hotter in the past, so laptops can't run at higher speed for long amount of time unless the cooling fan spins faster. But, the fan usually do not spin fast because it will make the laptop fan noise will be louder, and make the battery life not as long because the fan uses more electricity when it is spinning faster.

Newer laptops now come with a faster and more efficient CPUs and graphics chip from Intel, AMD or Nvidia, and DDR3 RAM which are better for playing games like Minecraft, Dota 2, Guild War, and League of Legends. But, users may need to lower the video quality to low or medium video quality settings, and lower the screen resolution to 800x600 or 1024x768 pixels to make the game playable.

The HP Stream 11 which is a slower new $200 Intel Celeron based laptops can run some PC game titles on low to medium video quality settings. The Stream 11 with a Celeron N2840 2.16Hz CPU, 2 GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM and Intel HD Graphics can run League of Legends according to a few YouTube videos I watched.

Well I had no idea they made them this much better. Yeah my screen isn't full HD, only 720P. It also loved to overheat because the fan just sucked. I don't use it much anymore. I took Windows off and put Linux in it which seemed to help BUT now Skype is a pain in the butt to use lol

Laptops now seem to be better at gaming. I seen a lot of online videos of people using their cheaper laptops in the $150-250 price range to play League of Legends, Minecraft, Counter Strike, and Hearthstone on their cheap laptops.

I also had an older laptop which gets hot even when it is doing nothing, or doing basic tasks like web browsing. It's screen was not 1080P. I tried installing Ubuntu on it, but the video did not work, so I usually just stick with using Windows Vista. I did try Puppy Linux on it, and it made the laptop run better, but I sometimes still need to use software like Skype which work better on Windows, and Apple PCs.
