If you're a Microsoft XBox fanboy and have had all the Microsoft consoles since the original XBox, what will you do if the rumor about Microsoft abandoning the console business turns out to be true? Will you switch to the PlayStation or will you just stick to PC gaming?

I would get a powerful Gaming PC, and buy a Xbox controller which work on PC if I was an Xbox fanboy. Many Xbox games are now available on PC, so I won't be missing out on a lot of Xbox exclusive games if I mainly play games on a PC.

I too would switch to PC and purchase or build myself a powerful PC to be able to game on. I would still be able to use Xbox controllers so it would still feel like I was gaming on an Xbox only through a PC :)

Whats this rumor going around?

I can see them dropping the Xbox to go completely PC. Just make a high rig Xbox PC tower and/or laptop and be done with it.

So basically a low-priced Alienware?

There is a lower-priced Windows 10 Alienware Alpha PC console which cost $450 and more , so the Alpha would work as a Xbox-like console.

But, Alienware computers are generally more expensive compared to building your own PC, or buying a custom built PC from another brand.

I've played on X-Box consoles before but I don't think it would bother me if they left the console world forever. If I was a fan of the X-Box fan, I would probably be disappointed at first but I would eventually switch to another gaming console.

Well, it would be sad to see. I abandoned the console world decades ago and went to hardcore pc gaming instead.

There's no such rumor, MS is highly invested in the Xbox brand and its not like they are occurring a loss on the Xbox brand. They are just trailing behind in the hardware sales this gen. Lets see what they have in store for us at E3, games wise.

If such a thing were to happen I'll switch to PlayStation as I already have a PC.

Microsoft bought Skype; tonnes of people left for Discord.
Microsoft bought GitHub; more and more projects migrates for GitLab.

Regardless, they still don't give up on these.
On the other hand, they already gave up on smartphones due to lack of popularity anywhere in the world.
Xbox is only extremely unpopular here in Japan, and moderately popular in Europe, but I think it's still holding strong in America.

I don't think Nintendo will, they still sell a lot and always hosts exclusives that are interesting to PlayStation and Xbox users too.
Sometimes PlayStation users even buy a Nintendo console only for Mario Kart and Smash Bros.

Well I'll just use my PC to play Xbox games in. I would attached game controllers on it for easy game play. Although I also own a PS3, and I like playing it's games also. But my choice here is playing on a pc.

Exactly why we want them to bow out and release their games on other consoles, like Sega. But thats wishful thinking, its not happening.

I actually hope not.
Another great thing about Nintendo consoles is that they're easy to use, and it's a platform to resort to if you're like me who doesn't necessarily want to have either shooting or 18+ games to be over represented.

When I look in the PS Store on my PS Vita it's really hard to find an RPG game that is both not Final Fantasy AND doesn't include perverted content. (・_・)

Nintendo definitely has a place in the hardware side of gaming, but recently their focus on lower end graphics is what is keeping me from getting the Switch. I would love to have multiple consoles but I can't afford it. So I have to sacrifice a lot of games that I want to play whether I get the Switch or not.

I agree that graphics on Nintendo platforms newer than Gamecube are always worse than their competitors, but it's really not what makes them a success.
They promoted amazing graphics on the Wii U, and failed.
Not saying Wii U graphics were better than PS4 or Xbox One, I mean rather the way Iwata-sama promoted it.

Nintendo is more a platform for games with a much less realistic approach, it's really more for games that are easy to understand and have a joyful atmosphere, so graphics that surpass reality is really not what they need to make.
In fact, when I play a game I want to feel like I'm playing a game, not like if I'm in the middle of a different reality, this is another reason why PlayStation and Xbox just never suit me.
