Anyone know a good free screen recording software for Windows 10? I don't have enough money to buy Camtasia.

I've heard good things about FRAPS and camstudio.

FRAPS is really confusing and I don't understand how to use it. I've tried camstudio and it seems to do a pretty decent job... for now...

I've had pretty good luck with "Open Broadcaster Software". It's allowed me to capture footage from my laptop playing games (EX- this 20XX boss run.) It's not always the most straightforward program in that you have to set up a scene first, then designate the program you want to watch for that scene. (Though skilled users can probably pull off some powerful tricks like layering multiple scenes.)

2045 2045 I don't know much about free screen recording software. However, I've done a little research on a few that seem pretty good according to reviews. I've also included the user ratings of these screen recorders also.

3. ShareX

I don't know why I haven't seen this topic before. I use Active Presenter and it's honestly the best free capture programs I've used. All you have to do is open it and then a page comes up where you hit "new capture" then name it whatever you want and save it wherever you want. Then you can how much of the screen you want to record, whether or not you want to use your mic, how loud the mic is, and finally just hit the big red button to record. It's as simple as that. Then when you're done, just hit the stop button and it'll open it up in it's own editing software, which isn't very good imo, but if you don't have one, it does the job. Otherwise, you can do what I do and just alter the audio there and save it as an avi and work in another video editor.
