Hi all, I'm relatively new to the forum, and you can call me Benoit. I found my way here from GamingReinvented once I heard the sites might merge. I mainly stick to posting on Gamefaqs, but I make my way out to these smaller sites when I want to experience a more personal community.

I'm 27 years old and got into gaming in the late 90s when I received a hand-me-down Sega Genesis along with discovering my dad's old Gameboy in his desk. Link's Awakening captured my imagination and drove my fascination with video games.

My siblings and I received a GC for Christmas that we put a lot of miles on. I also got a GBC as a gift, and eventually bought a GB Micro and DS. I spent my graduation gift cards on a Wii.

Once in college, I delved deep into PC gaming. I still played my Wii every once in a while, but the majority of my time went to playing Halo, Left 4 Dead, and Minecraft on my laptop.

Towards the end of college, my brother got a 360 that I ended up playing quite a bit of console exclusives on. My favorites would have to be Vanquish and Red Dead Redemption. I also bought a 3DS somewhere in this time period. It didn't provide as much excitement as my GB Micro and DS did.

After college, I bought myself a PS3 for Shadow of the Colossus HD. It was mostly just a machine for playing Netflix and Blurays along with the random PS+ games I downloaded every month.

Eventually my laptop became too old and hot to keep up with modern games so bought a Wii U at launch. I've really enjoyed the system, especially Mario Kart 8 and Wind Waker HD.

A couple years later, my wife surprised me and I got a Vita for Christmas. I played a ton of great games on it, but my interest in it has diminished in recent years due to the lack of releases that interest me (where is my BioShock??).

Just this past April, I bought a PS4 and it became my main source for gaming. I got really into Destiny because I had a couple friends playing it. Eventually I burned out on it and turned my attention to all the other games on the system. PS+ didn't come through for me like it did on PS3 so I've had to buy most of the games I wanted.

I'm looking to upgrade to a PS4 Pro while also keeping an eye on the Switch.

I like to keep track of my games on Backloggery and I'd suggest it to any serious gamer. How Long to Beat is another great site with a little more functionality, but I enjoy the simplicity of Backloggery.

On a personal note, I love sports and movies. My wife and I also just had our first child last year, a baby girl that lights up my world.

I look forward to posting more and getting to know the community here!

Hi there, welcome to the forums. Nice to see a big gamer join our site! Seems like you keep yourself busy with it :p

For reference, also check out www.igdb.com - I really love that site for tracking my games and seeing whats coming out, etc.

PS+ has been relatively disappointing, lets hope that as the catalog gets older we get some more AAA games.

PS4 Pro seems like the way to go currently, seems to be some huge improvements over the base PS4 and seems to make a big difference. Let me know what you think when you get it, and enjoy your time here!

IGDB is pretty new right? Did they have a kickstarter or something similar? For some reason I want to place them as coming on to the scene around the same time Opencritic was launched, but I may be wrong.

Yeah they are pretty new, still in beta and adding features as time progresses.

Welcome to the site, we will be merging rather soon (as soon as these technical difficulties get ironed out....)

Seems you've had a fulfilling gaming life. Maybe you and me and will become partners in arms in Destiny 2?

Not sure if its wise to upgrade to PS4 pro from a normal PS4, the pro still has some issues to iron out.

I'll be down for Destiny 2. Probably gonna go on a media blackout for it.

What's the issue with the Pro currently?

Welcome to the site, sounds like that you are a very heavy gamer :) How do you find time to do all your collage work and such?

Oh I graduated from college 5 years ago, but that was probably when I was gaming the most. I had classes a few days a week and only for 3 hours usually. I also worked 3 hours each day, Monday through Friday, but the rest of the time was for gaming.

These days I don't have nearly as much time, but I still play in the evenings when I can.

Some games don't work right, patches messing up the the frame rate or affecting display.

Whats your major?

Hoi! Not sure you can recall me from GR but it is great you decided to take a look here.
Also as you might imagine Zelda avatars are such a magnet to get my attention. :p
I learned so much from you in this thread than all the time we interacted in the other community, haha.
I also remember the date I joined my first forum ever, mostly because it is a reverse from my birthday date. xD

I remember you! I do like topics like these that work through someone's gaming history. Let's you know where they are coming from and where they are headed. Also let's you know if you should take their opinion with a grain of salt in case they are a fanboy.

wouldn't happen to have minored in math would you? ^^;
I minored in Economics but I was pretty good at math back in college. 5 years has probably made me rusty though. Believe it or not, Algebra and Calculus aren't all that prevalent after college.

I somehow passed Macroeconomics last semester with a B, got it from a D to a B, don't know how. I'm aware Calculus and all that fancy math is useless, but my college is requiring me to take Algebra, calculus and statistics as well. Complete waste of time, money and so many headaches.

You doing things like matrices, coordinate geometry, differential calculus, probability, linear regression, etc?
