For having a second disc drive in it so you can have two discs in your playstation at the same time. Since they added that top layer to it, seemed like a good chance to do something like this for anyone who likes to switch between games often or me who often watches a lot of shows (anime) on discs.

I agree, having an extra disc drive could be useful, the second drive could be useful as a Blu-Ray Burner/Writer drive for also backing up your video game screenshots, and in-game video which you recorded to your PS4's hard drive. Backing up your video files to YouTube and other sites is sometimes a hassle for people with a slow internet connection, and the video files may contain copyrighted music which makes it not suitable for YouTube.

It'd probably have to be even bigger then. An ideal world, the extra disk drive would be used for backwards compatibility for Ps1/Ps2/Ps3 games.

I remember in the past when there were stereo systems which can hold 3 or more disc to listen to many CD disc without changing them. I think they were not much bigger than a regular CD drive on cheaper more basic Home CD stereo systems which were top loading or has a slide-out tray like a PC's CD-ROM Disc drive. These Disc drives used disc slots like the Wii's Disc drive instead of those pop-out doors found on CD-ROM drives on PC. Most of the space on the drive is used up by the holes for holding each disc in place.

I think the extra space could be useful for adding a Memory card reader slot for MicroSD, Regular Size SD, and Sony Memory Stick cards. A lot of people still use Memory cards to copy, and view photos, video, and listen to music files which are stored on different types of Memory cards like MicroSD and SD cards.

Sony can also use the space to add a low power computer like the Chromecast, Roku, Raspberry Pi, and Android TV to the PS4 for using for watching Netflix, YouTube, and using Apps instead of using the PS4's console which uses more electricity, and runs louder because of the cooling fans.

you can still buy cd players that hold up to six discs.

I think in the past, multi-disc CD players were popular with better car stereo systems, and may still be popular with people who own older cars with older style stereos, or can't afford a better car stereo with line-in/auxiliary inputs, or Bluetooth, and the installation fees which can be expensive.

I can confirm it is expensive from my family's work on their cars to 'pimp' them out.

Car modifications to the stereo, entertainment system, body, and other parts can get very expensive where you may spend more on modifying a car than the whole price of a used or cheaper model new car from smaller car brands. Car installer technicians sometimes charge hundreds to thousands of dollars for working a few hours.

How awesome would it be if they had this. I mean I only tend to play 2 games right now (Battlefield One and FIFA 17) and it would great if I didn't have to keep taking one of them out to play the other. I feel like adding this might make it a bit bigger in terms of physical size though

This seems like a pretty nice idea. Like others before me, there are sometimes when I am interested in playing two different games and it would be nice to not have to go through the hassle of switching the two games out if you decide you want to play the other game. I like that idea. Have we confirmed whether or not you can burn something from one disk to another using this or is it just wishful thinking for right now?
