I'd rather buy a brand new video game that a used game. However, used video games are usually a lot cheaper than brand new ones.

So, would you rather buy a new or used video game?

I like buying new games because they're guaranteed to work. The only time I'll get a used copy is if it's all they had.

I like to buy new games if the price is right. I did buy a used Destiny for the PS3 but it was in excellent shape.

I prefer buying games new whenever possible.

I prefer to buy new games, but I'll buy used if there's nothing else.

Mostly new with newer games because of the fact that most are tied with steam etc. If it an old one that doesn't require steam then I will consider it.

I prefer new games if they are fairly priced. I mainly buy older new games which can be bought for $20. I did buy a few used games which worked, and were hard to find at stores since stores stop selling them.

So your opinion hasn't changed in 5 months, huh? ;)

I buy whenever the price is right, which usually means getting used games. I only buy new if it's a game I'm super hyped for, but I have a birthday in April and Christmas so I can usually hold off long enough to get those games as gifts.

Steam sales really spoiled me. I laugh at Nintendo's "sales" that usually amount to 15% to 20% at most. Sony has been doing a good job at giving deeper discounts, but I still won't bite if a game isn't under $20.

I usually buy new games 99% of the time. I've only bought a used game a couple of times over the course of my lifetime. The few times that I bought a used game was because I hadn't realized that the game originally existed and there wasn't anything left but used.

Considering we download most of our games on Steam, I've not bought a game on "disc" in years. hehe

When I started PC gaming back in 2007, I bought everything physical until I got Left 4 Dead. It had me install Steam to play and I realized the mistake I had been making. Pretty sure I still have the box for Crysis.

Same thing happened to us. We were on dial up at the time and the Left for Dead 2 boxed game tried to install Steam and after waiting for hours and hours we realized it wasn't going to work. Afterward we "hated" Steam but when we moved here shortly there-after, we got 60 meg cable and gave it another try. WOW, glad we did!

Mainly used/pre-owned for older game systems rather than newer ones as long as the games work properly. I'd return it if the game cart/disk doesn't work as intended.
For newer/modern game systems, I mainly buy the games brand new whenever possible.

I buy used almost every time (and I'm old-school enough that I still love having the discs), but if there's something huge I just can't wait for I'll preorder it. I'll also download games that I'm not too excited about but vaguely interested in when they go on sale on PSN, but if I like the game enough I usually end up getting a used disc copy anyway. I actually started playing the FarCry series this way (when 3 went down to $5 or whatever for the first time) and it ended up being one of my favorite series. The last game I bought new was Persona 5, and before that I can't even remember. Probably would've bought Fallout 4 new, but I got it as a gift.

I also worked at a pawn shop for two years, though, so that might've biased me towards used games (plus a used price along with an employee discount and some haggling meant I got some great games hella cheap)

I don't even own any disc games. lol And I can play games on Steam even if "off-line" so no worries.

Eh, used games are my way to go. I don't have a lot of money so the cheapest option is always the best one.
Of course, you have to be careful while buying and you can't jump ahead and buy any used game you see; more than once I've bought used games from friends that I trust, therefore the quality is always guaranteed.

I buy brand new games only when it's a new release I'm desperate to get my hands on, or... Just when desperate, generally.
