Do you think Memory cards will outlast the popularity of disc storage like Blu-Ray, DVD, etc?

I think there is a chance that external memory cards won't be as popular for as long as Blu-Ray, DVD, CD, Vinyl records, and other forms of disc storage. I think Memory cards are slowly being less popular as more devices like smartphones, tablets, laptops, and digital video cameras come with more internal storage, and other ways like external hard drives and flash drives to backup files to.

There are a lot of people with older car stereos which can only play CDs and MP3 CDs. A lot of people are now buying vinyl music records to collect, and play on their record players. DJs still use Vinyl Records to perform/ spin records at clubs and events. Most more serious music fans buy Music CDs to support their favorite singers because singers don't earn as much money from downloadable songs and streaming services. If fans want their favorite singers to afford to make new music, buying their CDs and Vinyl records is a better ways to support them by buying their music instead of buying them on Apple iTunes and Google Play where Apple and Google earn more of the profits from music sales. Buying Blu-Ray and DVD is probably a better way to support your favorite film makers like buying CDs and Vinyl records. Blu-Ray is also still the best and cheapest way to watch a 4K movie on a 4K TV without needing a expensive fast internet connection. There are also a lot of cheaper older DVDs movies which people still buy for around $10 or less at stores, rent from Redbox, or borrow from the library. A lot of people still use and own DVD and Blu-Ray players, and own game consoles like the PS2, PS3, PS4, X1, X360, and PC which can play music and video on discs.

Some computer repair technicians still use repair disc to repair older computers with the Windows repair disc, or use a external disc drive to use a repair disc rather than a USB flash drive because not all computer motherboards can boot from a USB flash drive.

MicroSD and SD cards may already be losing some popularity as more phones and tablets come with 64GB or more storage, and more people backup their small files like pictures online on sites like Google Drive and iCloud, and watch video and listen to music on sites like Netflix, YouTube, and Spotify.

There are also cheaper external hard drives and USB flash drives which work on smartphones, and tablets, so some people may use a hard drive or flash drive to backup their files instead of a more expensive SD card with less storage, and a higher price for more than 128GB of storage. There are also smartphone cases with a built-in SSD drive for storing data on which maybe more convenient for some less tech savvy users who don't know which MicroSD card to buy.

It's not coming to mind right now, but what uses memory cards right now?

Some older game consoles like the Playstation 1 and 2 uses memory card for game saves. Most Android phones use MicroSD memory cards, but there are some phones like the iPhone which never use memory cards. Digital cameras sometimes use Memory cards if they don't have internal storage, or connect to a computer for storage. Micro-computers like the Raspberry Pi uses MicroSD Memory cards.

I never really consider SD cards to be the same as memory cards, but I can see them being the same.

I think game console memory cards, and SD Cards use the same tech except game console memory cards for the Playstation 1 and 2 are designed to be more durable, and easier to hold because many kids own game consoles. Younger kids are not very careful when using and holding things like electronics, so game console memory cards need to be durable. Plus, some people like the unique design of game console memory cards, and game console makers can sell different looking, and special edition memory cards for more money
