The offical image editing software Paint that comes free on all Windows Operating systems, will soon be discontinued. The software has been in use for 32 years ever since coming out on windows 1.0.

Though something will take its place, Microsoft announced and released an updated version of the program called Paint 3D, which incorporated many of the features of Paint into a hybrid 2D-3D editing program.

That sucks. I use paint to help make my thumbnails for Youtube. I hope whatever its replaced with works just as well. Though, Microsoft needs to learn that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Internet Explorer was great, but they got rid of it for Edge, which is worse. Now they're getting rid of paint, which works just fine.

I usually use it for quick photo edit/resizing. Hopefully the new one works just as good.

RIP MS Paint. But, I bet there are plenty of paid and free alternatives for MS Paint.

program wise, not sure. I know there is a bunch of clone websites. Also if there are a few dedicated fans like there were for Windows Media Center, MS paint can be brought back for use.

If a user have the space on a hard drive, they can run a MS Paint on a dual-boot computer, or use a virtual machine software like VMWare with both Windows 10, and Windows 8.1, 7, Vista, XP, or below. Most older versions of Windows come bundled with MS Paint.

I just saw on Twitter where because of all the out cry, MS Paint isn't actually ending. MS Paint is here to stay - Windows Experience Blog

According to the blog post on Microsoft, you need to download MS Paint from the Windows Store which is kind of a hassle for some people who are not used to using the Windows Store App to download, update, and uninstall Store App.

I feel it should be a downloadable file like MS Office, Visual Basic, or stay a bundled program with Microsoft.

I don't think anyone would go through so much trouble to use a simple Paint program.

Good to hear its sticking around though, for now...

There are some people who use VMWare, and similar programs to run games, and software, but they need to be a big fan of MS Paint to use their time to setup a virtual machine software to use MS Paint. If you already have software like VMware or VirtualBox setup, and a Windows 7 virtual drive file on your hard drive, it won't take any additional time to set it up except making a user account in Windows 7 on your VMWare's Windows 7 install.

A lot of people have an older Windows XP, 7, Vista, and 8.1 computer in their home, or can go to a library or school to use Windows 7, so a lot of people can easily still use MS Paint by using their older computers which they did not upgrade to Windows 10.

I read online that some computers which has an older Intel Atom CPU will no longer get Windows Updates in the near future, so the removal of MS Paint may not affect them because they can't update Windows in the near future, and Windows will stop supporting older Intel Atom CPUs.

Yeah they are releasing it as an app from the Windows Store. Does anyone use that? I certainly don't.

I sometimes use MS Paint to paste, and save a picture of the Windows Desktop, when I press the Print Screen button on my keyboard, as a jpeg file.

MS Paint is useful when you need to quickly paste and save the screenshot as a picture file.

I meant does anyone use the Windows App Store because I don't.

I used the Windows App Store to download Gameloft Asphalt 8, and other casual games in Windows.

But, I rarely use the Windows Store to download non-gaming apps because I rather use software like Firefox, Gimp image editor, LibreOffice, and other software which is not available in the Windows Store.

I downloaded an un-official YouTube video app, and the official Instagram app from the Windows Store. But, I rather just use my Android tablet, or the official YouTube and Instagram website.
