Thoughts?

Haven't watched the video, but as regards to thread title - I think from third party developers we are likely to see single player narrative games die off a little. Think there will still be some developers who do single player, but it will be less common. Thankfully, PlayStation has said they aren't following the trend so there exclusives will still follow the narrative games we are used to.

I would quit video games forever, end of story. I've been playing video games by myself for as long as I can remember. There's nothing wrong with a single player game having multiplayer features, but getting rid of single player altogether makes it unfair for a large majority. For example the people with crappy internet who lag out or the people too poor to afford Xbox Gold or PlayStations' equivalent. Then again, I also think it's bs that people have to buy a subscription to play online with friends anyway.

Also, I'm not a very picky gamer. In fact, I prefer short games to long ones, even more now that I'm an adult. Maybe when I was a kid a long game enticed me because I had no life and a few friends I barely saw, but now that I'm an adult with a job and responsibilities, a 20-30 hour game sounds like the perfect amount.

I feel Single Player Narrative games will still be popular with smaller game makers like Goat Simulator even if big games like Call of Duty become mostly-Multiplayer someday.

For those of you who haven't watched it IntoxNitram IntoxNitram the video explains that the gaming numbers haven't really increased since like the PS2 days, but the cost to make games has tripled since then and a $60 price tag on a large demanding single player game doesn't really pay off anymore vs a online game where makers continue to make money.

Most likely why GTA 5 never got more offline expansions.

They're typically cheaper to build than multiplayer (local and network) games, plus most players would have bought a copy. I'd say it's highly unlikely to happen

The PS2 was a great console with a lot of fun games.

There are a lot of fun older single player games, so some gamers may wait a while before buying new single player games when there are many cheaper $30-40 single player games which they haven't played yet.

But, if gamers have many gaming friends, they most likely play the latest online multiplayer game, so gamers will need to buy the latest multiplayer games to play games with friends.
