Unfortunate news from the manga industry today in Japan, manga artist Nobuhiro Watsuki, creator of the hit manga Rurouni Kenshin has been arrested for having several DVDs of child porn at both his place of work and at home. This has caused his current Kenshin series to be placed on hiatus.

Being charged with this in Japan results a few years in prison and a one million yen fine.

:(
I don't know what to say. really liked ruroni kenshin but the author seems to be .....*Sigh

Well, that is true but still, it's kinda hard not to judge stuff.
I like ruroni kenshin a lot but I hate child abuse and other stuff even more.

So, if encouraging the author to write more stuff...I don't know. May be he needs some counseling.

making RK could have been his counseling to possible control is unsavory passions, or not. But not always best to dismiss something quickly.

Sigh. It's just ruroni kenshin got the gentle feeling to it.
It's good and I just can't believe something who can write that gentle manga can be cruel.

Read some update:

After Nobuhiro Watsuki was charged with possession of child pornography last fall, his manga Rurouni Kenshin was placed on hiatus. This June, it will resume serialization in Japan.

Earlier this year, Watsuki was fined 200,000 yen ($1,870) for violating the country’s child pornography law for this possession.

Starting June 4, however, Rurouni Kenshin’s “Hokkaido Arc” will return to print. The manga publication Jump Square’s editorial department offered a deep apology for the long hiatus from print and to everyone involved for causing concern and problems.

Continuing, it added, “The author spends his days reflecting and with remorse, and think as though it’s our obligation as a publisher as well as his as an author make a way for us to reply through the work to the various opinions we’ve been getting, and so, from the July issue, which goes on sale June 4, serialization will resume.”

The magazine asked readers for their understanding.

Investigators had discovered several DVDs that showed nude under-15-year-old girls at Watsuki’s Tokyo office. Similar DVDs were also reportedly found at his house. At the time, Watsuki was quoted as telling authorities, “I liked girls from the upper grades of elementary school to around the second year of junior high school.”

I should note that child porn (so real children being sexualised) is a sick, criminal thing in Japan, but lolicon (so 2D drawn children being sexualised) is merely a nerd thing, and all accepted.
Since in English both ways fall under "child porn", this at least gives you the idea on which one of the 2 was the reason for his arrest.

Personally I don't think punishment should be harsh for those indulging in fictional things so long as no one in real life is affected. We are after all born with things out of our control.

I think we have more control, we just lack the will to exercise it.

great control...reminds me of the Johnny English monk training thing lol
Mind must be the master of the body to achieve great control on the body, provided the mind is normal and without any "mental issues" like Johnny English

Not exactly what I had in mind, but still funny. lol

Is that real? His manga really famous here in our country. But I didn't know that the author of that manga was having a bad habit,

Bad habbit? It's a vile offense against humanity.
