Two years ago LG Displays showed off a super cool OLED TV that rolled up into its base when not in use, essentially giving you the best of both the TV and projector worlds. Now LG is actually selling a TV based on the technology. The LG Signature OLED TV R will ship later this year.

And while it’s definitely a gimmick, the OLED TV R has all the features you’d expect from a wildly expensive 65-inch OLED TV. Like support for every major HDR format, wide color gamut, 4K resolution, and a crisp and detailed image. LG claims that the actual OLED panel itself is the same one found in its current line of OLED TVs. The only difference being this one rolls up.

This does look like a nice roll-able TV. But, a regular 4K TV installed on a TV stand with a robotic TV lift device would be more affordable.

I feel a projector would be better if you want a bigger video screen size since you can make the video size bigger by moving the projector farther from the wall. Users can more easily carry most projector with a suitcase, or backpack.

It looks neat but it's delicate too.
I don't like very lightweight stuff in the first place. I need something solid in my hand....and I like to stick to old ways.

I'm not buying the whole roll up TV thing, I would think sooner or later the screen would have issues unlike a standard tv.

I think LG may test out the TV to make sure it does not break after using the rolling feature thousands of times.

Modern TVs don't last as long as old tube TVs. Some LCD tvs and monitors can break after a few years of use. I feel these rollable TV may last the same amount of time as standard LCD TVs because LCD TVs can break after a few years of use.

whoa thats wild! we're almost there! hologram status might be next!

but then again, something to think about... the picture on the screen will warp... or other major technical difficulties. hope this has went through quality inspections several times before releasing to the market... its not not yet right?

I feel this rollable TV will mainly be used as a status symbol to show off the owners' money. They use the TV to show their home guest that they can afford expensive rollable TV with high tech features.

perhaps it is seen as a TV that is meant to impress others, the concept of 'look what I have, and you dont.' type of deal... haha

I think one of the reason LG release a rollable TV to use the rollable TV to help promote the LG brand, so people with less money would more likely buy other products made by LG like non-rollable Smart TVs, smartphones, computers, tablets, refrigerators, clothe washer and dryers, dish washers, etc.
