I feel it is unlikely that Nintendo hire a tablet maker like Samsung to make a Nintendo branded gaming tablet in the future.

But, if Nintendo needs to save money in the future, it might be more affordable to hire a tablet maker like Samsung to design and build a Nintendo branded gaming tablet.

Google, Barnes and Noble, and other big companies hire tablet makers like Samsung to make their tablets and smartphones in the past. I think companies like Samsung are good at making decent tablets which are under $300, but are good enough to use for most users.

Amazon Fire tablets which cost $50 and more are made by Quanta computers which is a computer maker from Taiwan according to Kindle Fire - Wikipedia

Most likely, Amazon hired Quanta computers to build the Fire tablets to keep the price of the Amazon Fire affordable at $50 while being good to use for most tasks like watching video, web browsing, and mobile games.

From what I've seen out of the Switch (with it being a home console and a handheld in one), it wouldn't surprise me if they did do that. Now, whether or not they did it is another story. I'm just going to wait and see......

hard to say, it depends who can assure Nintendo of quality.

I also feel there maybe a possibility that Nintendo will let tablet makers use the Nintendo brand name on some gaming tablets, and the gaming tablet maker pay money to use the Nintendo brand on the tablet.

I think a Gameboy and Gameboy Advance tablet may sell well. But, it maybe more affordable for Nintendo to hire or partner with a tablet maker like Samsung to make a custom gaming tablet with a built-in controller, so Gameboy games can be played with buttons and a directional pad rather than on-screen controls like how people emulate Gameboy games on an Android smartphone.

I honestly dont see why they would hire a company when they could do it themselves. They would spend less, yes, but also earn less. They might as well make a handheld that has all the capabilities of a tablet, with their own extra accessories and software, maybe including an inbuilt emulator that can run their older games, up to the NDS/WII era. Piracy would be an issue, but honestly it already is.

I feel there maybe less of a risk of losing a lot of money when hiring another company to design a gaming tablet since Nintendo does not need to invest in developing new technology, and hiring as many workers which another tablet company already has.
