And more importantly, do they actually influence you in any way when buying a game?
Or do you take things like word of mouth, footage, screenshots, etc as a better judge of the game's quality?
For me, it's arguably the latter. Never really found a game review site I 100% agree with (outside of this one), and I usually have a pretty good idea of what a game'll be like from all the pre release footage and stuff.
I always read reviews, both general player reviews and also the mainstream reviews everyone's always whining about. They give a good basis of overall play, story, graphics, sound, everything I want to make sure of before actually buying. If it's a game I have absolutely no clue about, I might watch gameplay videos, but I prefer to read people's thoughts and comments then watch gameplay that's generally by a person who's probably way better at the game then I will ever be. I also don't usually watch gameplay because I want to experience the game myself, not have anything spoiled.
I've never found I have to %100 agree with people to have their opinions be valid. It's difficult to blatantly lie because it's so easily found out and reported by the general public, so I've never had any issue with any of the mainstream reviews I've ever read.
I don't care much for reading video game rewiews. If there is a game I might find myself interested in, I'll do research on it. Then I usually ask a friends opinion and watch a few videos of pre release game footage. I don't really like to watch gameplay footage(because I hate spoilers.) just in case I do decide to make the purchase.
I like to read popular, concise Steam reviews before buying a game, however, I like to read more than one to gain a general insight on what people think of the game. I think they help with finding a game that'll be worth my money.
I don't actually care of the reviews most of the time.
But sometimes, they are good and they are pretty informative...so, I am somewhere in between.....ugh....I am not so sure anymore.
I used to before. Not anymore. Especially from the reviews from my friends. How will you know what its like if you did not try the game? Games are meant to be fun, for your entertainment
Personally, game reviews have small impact on what I think about the game. If I like it I will play it but if someone else don't like it... can't do much about that.

Same here. To me, reviews gives you a general idea of what the game is like from their perspective. If you like what you see/read form reviews, then you'll enjoy it. To each their own, even if you hate it
I somewhat care for game reviews since some games are poorly made, and have slow framerates, game problems, and random game crashes and freezes, so a good reviewer would write about problems they encounter like slow framerates, game problems, and game crashes and freezes when playing a game.
Game reviews can be useful for finding new series of games to play.
I don't. I play what games I want, regardless of what someone else wrote in a review about that game. I know what kind of games I like and that's the games I'm going to play.
I find the reviews these day to have too much of the person's own thoughts in it, which if we're not the same we will have different opinions on the game. So I tend to avoid reviews and just seek out gameplay.
In my opinion, game reviews are very important when buying a game. It might seem like fun from photos or trailers but maybe actually boring after you bought it. Therefore, I prefer the opinions of people who have already tried it.
Actually yes, reviews help us to know whether it is worthy to buy a particular game or not. But not always because it depends on the individual and their choices.
