I'm just curious. How much do you actually care about the design of a website or service you use, like this forum or any news site?

Readable and navigable for me. Although I will say I enjoy websites that are darker with natural colors to them much more, but that's just me.

Yes I care.

- The website needs to be clean and crisp.

- Minimalism is something I usually enjoy.

- I also like it when sites use fonts that aren't mainstream

- Stuff needs to be high resolution. My phone does 1080p, 4K TV sets are starting to come out.

At this site, a couple things bug me a bit. I tend to have signatures on ignore because they can be big and formatted weirdly (not a common issue though). What also annoys me is how much space is taken up by all that junk under the user's avatar in posts. Not pointing any fingers because I believe it's an issue for all, but here's one of the most obvious examples:

This is an entire page for me. My vertical resolution is 1024, only slightly smaller than 1080. An entire page for a 5 word post... I rest my case.

^ This. I forgot to mention this in my post. I feel there should be a limit on how much can be entered in those fields, and how large signature pics can be. I like having them on, but I've seen some people with honking massive pictures before. I try to keep mine down to a reasonable size.

I like having all the information displayed at the left side of the screen, but between the title, icon, member group, item box title thingy, post count, user awards, warning points, and then all the information the user themselves can input, my tiny Cubone signature pic sits in a HUGE box of empty space when I make a shorter post... Is it possible to make these things smaller, or display in a way that's not a a long slew of stuff under people's avatars? Like I said, I do like having them there as it really shows who's active and whatnot, but it's still a bit much sometimes.

Freaking hell, I was sure the 'favourite games' thing had a way lower limit than that. Sigh, I'll set it so it caps out at some readable number of lines.

The site should be navigable (bandwagon), and I really do think it should look good. I usually won't join a site JUST because I'm not fond of the look.

I do but sometimes I don't when the community is really good.

I suppose that is the same with everyone but people tend to judge a forum by it's design, most of the time

I think that the design is important to attract more users but it's not the most important thing. The quality and what it has to offer should be higher in the list.
