Do you think PC games will be a paid online subscription service instead of paying for a game once?

It is possible that most PC gamers in the future will pay $10 or more a month to be able to download and play hundreds to thousands of games from an online service.

But, I feel there would always be some gamers who rather just buy a game once instead of paying $10 a month to play the game.

Some people mainly play only a few games where it would be more affordable for some PC gamers to buy a few games every year instead of paying a monthly subscription to be able to play many games which they may not be interested in.

It should stay like how most of the games are now - pay once and get it forever. I don't find any sense to pay each month.

I prefer to pay for the game once, and play it forever because I don't play many games per year where I be saving money by subscribing to a paid online PC game service which let me play thousands of PC games per month.

I think online PC games subscriptions maybe good for internet gaming cafe which need to install a lot of new games on their PC each month, and also have a lot of old games on a PC.

Buying hundreds to thousands of games at once can cost a lot of money if each game cost $30 or more, so paying a yearly subscription price to install and play thousands of games per year on Internet cafe gaming PC can be more affordable.

I think we've learned by now that this will never happen or beat Steam's solid business structure.

Firstly I thought the idea is extremely bad. 'Pay once - play forever' seems to be an ideal strategy.
But if you have to pay and get ALL the games for one month... Cool. But feels like utopia.

A digital PC game rental service could be worth it for people who finish PC games in a few days to weeks, get easily bored with new PC games, and want to try the game before buying it.

Not everyone wants to buy a game for full price like $40 or more, and own it forever. Some people may just want to play the game for a few days or less, and pay a few dollars to rent the game.

Wait till the steam sale is on, and in some cases you get 80% off.

This is a good idea.

Waiting for game giveaways can be good way to get free games as well. I got Need for Speed Most Wanted for free when EA's Origins was giving NFS Most Wanted away a few years ago.

if only there is something like a trial period in games in steam(for free) and trading of games between users, only then this kind talk about paying monthly/owning for lifetime would cease to exist

This is already happening. For like $10-$20 a month you can play over 500 PS3/PS4 games on your PC or PS. I love it!

This sounds like a good deal for people who want to play many games at once does not have thousands of dollars to buy hundreds of games, or the space in their room to store hundreds of game boxes.

Yes yes! What I love about the PS version is that the games are streamed. Xbox's version there are only about 100 games, and you need to fully download each game you want to play! :(

Downloading 100 Xbox games would take a long time.

I know right! I downloaded like 5 or 6 games and it used almost half my storage!! lol

Wow, that's a lot of storage. I imagine once you download/buy a lot of DLC, updates, extra levels, characters, and expansion packs for your games, more storage would be used up.

Yeah pretty much. I'm actually selling our Xbox One S on eBay next month. Can prolly get $200 for it. hehehe

Game consoles do seem to fill up storage very quickly compared to an average Gaming PC where gamers can install a 4TB hard drive which can be bought for $100 or less on Amazon.

Hopefully, you can get a good price for your Xbox One S on eBay.
