Sony is launching a new PlayStation video series called State of Play, the first live episode is set to air March 25th on Twitch and YouTube. There will be trailers, gameplay footage, and new game announcements for the PlayStation platform.

Sony has officially started their own type of Nintendo Direct.

Said it before and I'll say it again:

The Nintendo Direct formula is basically the future of advertising for video game companies and media producers in general. It's free press for posting trailers and announcements, and it nicely cuts out the journalistic middleman for the corporations involved. They're realising it's better to forego the news sites and just market straight to consumers.

It is sad to see E3 lose its luster due to this, but I do feel these Directs are better.

Heard that others weren't too happy with it either so you're not the only one. Was excited for a second when I heard about Iron Man but was extremely disappointed afterwards.

Wasn't expecting much from it, wasn't a big marketing push behind it so it was just a batch of trailers they likely would have released individually over a couple weeks otherwise.
