Police arrested a 25-year-old male nursing home employee in Tokushima's Yoshinogawa City on March 29 on charges of intimidation and forcible obstruction of business, for sending a threatening message to media company Square Enix.

According to authorities, the suspect left a message in a questionnaire for a role-playing game by Square Enix on February 5. He reportedly wrote, "Square Enix staff, I'm coming to kill you tomorrow. Purify your heads for a beheading." The message forced Square Enix to increase security.

Police stated that the suspect admitted to the charges, and wrote in his deposition that he had written the message to "seek revenge," as he had allegedly spent 200,000 yen (about US$1,795) to acquire an in-game item but did not end up getting it. Square Enix also received around 30 messages with the word "kill" last September, and police are investigating any possible links to the suspect.

It is good that no one got hurt, and the person who sent the threats got arrested.

You don’t write things like 'kill' on questionnaires even if you don’t mean it! Really? Instead of threatening the company, boycott it if you’re not happy with it! Or at the very least, file a complaint! Don’t send death threats, you crazy kids!

I agree with this. There are some people that take things way too far. *insert eye roll here* There are other ways to deal with something like this besides resorting to violence.

Well the guy is clearly crazy, he dropped over 1k of money into a game for a digital item.

I agree the guy is crazy. Maybe this would not have happen if the prices for digital items are more affordable like $5.
