Given recent months of bad news from Gamestop has finally led to this recent bad news, Gamestop has announced they are closing stores starting with 180-200 stores that are under preforming with more to come.

RIP gamestop.

No way, thats crazy. So then that will mean a good possibility that a store close by me, (a 10min drive) will have a potential to close. They're not doing so hot, because people prefer to order their games online through Amazon. I've heard it from the manager himself when I was at a store recently, finding information about the new 'borderlands 3' game.

Sounds like it is or will be on the chopping block.

I know my location is doing well, I think but I think this year I'm going to forgo renewing my game pro and game informer account.

Hopefully, Gamestop will find a way to survive, and open up more stores in other locations when the economy gets better in the future.

Honestly, I don't have much faith in Gamestop overall. Retail isn't doing so well where video games (and other forms of entertainment) are concerned, and things like digital distribution and ecommerce are just going to take more and more of the market going forward.

Add to this Gamestop's mediocre reputation, and I just don't see much that's positive coming from this one.

much like my staples job, they pushed metrics too hard.

yeah, I checked with the manager of that store and he already hinted at it. Started re-arranging the store for high demand type items to go on sale, and people are actually buying it without noticing the store is actually closing. no signs or nothing of that topic

Hopefully I guess they find a new way to start them again or looking for new deals which helps them...

It could be a good idea to close Gamestop which are open in places where there are fewer gamers because most of the gamers moved to another place like a bigger town or city, poorer gamers no longer can afford new games, or are no longer gamers who are more dedicated to buy new games every few months or weeks.

Opening stores where more gamers live maybe more profitable for Gamestop, and useful to gamers who live in places like big cities which have more gamers.
