Depends on my day and weather, but I pick go out.

I choose to stay in on a Friday night because I am cocerned being randomly attacked by violent criminals on Friday night .
That can happen at any time of day though, not just on a friday night.

That is true. I usually avoid going out on most nights if I don't have an important task to do where I need to leave home. There seems to be fewer police officers patrolling the streets at night, so criminals may not get caught as quickly before or when they can hurt someone.

Stay in.
The reason for my answer is I normally have to go to work on Saturday so I'm not going to stay out late on Friday night. Now, if I'm on vacation or I know I don't have to go to work the next day, then that might be different. But it's very rare that I'm not working on the weekends.
