As you may have already heard, rumour has that Sony is working on two new pieces of hardware: the inevitable PS6 and a new portable platform capable of natively playing your PS5 library.

While the latter certainly sounds pie in the sky at first blush, it’s actually a story with credibility. Various well-connected individuals, including Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson and even Digital Foundry, have all mentioned they’ve heard similar things.

The nature of the device remains a little unclear, however.

But writing on forum NeoGAF, hardware snoopster KeplerL2 – who was among the first to mention the development of the handheld – said that the device is powerful enough to run PS5 games, just “not at the same resolution [or] framerate, mainly due to the lower memory bandwidth”.

Sony’s obviously had a lot of success with the PS Portal, which has seemingly emboldened its decision to make a new handheld.

I'm not very interested in playing PS5 games at lower video quality settings on a portable Sony handheld.

for me it's no use getting it if PS games will keep coming to PC lol Switch 2 I plan to get it for the Nintendo exclusive PLOT waifus mainly the waifus from new unannounced yet but inevitable new Fire Emblem game lol

I wonder how is the battery life on a portable PS5 which play games at lower video resolution.

I feel many people who want to play PS5 games on a mobile device would rather play PS5 PC releases games on a Gaming Laptop with a battery which can hold a lot of electricity, so they can game for many hours.

I feel a handheld PS5 consoles can struggle at getting a lot of buyers because many people may feel playing video games like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Call of Duty on a smaller screen device is not as immersive, and fun for extended amount of time.

Plus, people dont like dealing with dying internal batteries on laptops, handhelds, tablets and smartphones when the battery wears out in a few years.
