I imagine someone from the US will buy it and hack it as much as they can to get functionality.
Dude, if you wanted this design, all you needed to do is buy the plates. I understand the frustration, but you can achieve this right now.

I’m not saying the fanboys don’t exist, I’m just saying it’s silly to act like it’s only the fanboys that are going to buy this. If you’re a Japanese person and want a PS5 and don’t care about physical games, this is a steal at $349.
Correct.
But yeah, if the “do disc no buy” crowd was as big as they are loud, then physical sales wouldn’t be at rock bottom where stores have low inventory, and their “protest” wouldn’t have only lasted a week with tons of people admitting they were still playing their PS5 during the blackout, but only offline. Like wow, such a protest.
I've been saying this since day one. I walk into Best Buy, and I see the shelves, they're empty. I go to Walmart... Same.
Good, Wolverine's sales are strong with physical, but where is this outrage when this generation went by? I been buying physical since I got my slim. I just bought one.
(God, this controversy is so stupid, I wish I had a bigger platform, than I do now - because I could dispell this notion. And people are blindly falling for the controversy.)
Seems self righteous to just chalk it up as dented fanboys. You’d be surprised how most of the Sony controversy (hell most gaming controversies) are things that only the internet cares about and nobody irl gives a shit. Then there’s people who “care” but only care about getting upvotes or likes.
Hell, I remember when Reddit and social media made the Switch 2 sound like it’d be a commercial failure with $80 games and the Game Key Cards. Yeah, everyone forgot about that already.
The difference, though this is not just in Social Media, the whole controversy spilled into YouTube. I CANNOT go a day without seeing people going like "Oh, Sony's Trash, OH, sony did an oppsies. Oh, Microsoft needs to do this, microsoft needs to do that." Like Microsoft is any better!
THEY ARE THE ONES WHO STARTED THIS DIGITAL PUSH. Oh. my. god. God, I hate this controversy. It's so baffling that people fall for the controversy so easily, like a bunch of sheeps.
I still see people complaining about game key cards on the Switch 2 subreddit but not as much as I did when Nintendo announced the Game Key Cards. I'm sure there's people in real life who think this is dumb but there's definitely more of outcry online so you're right about that lol. There's still plenty of fanboys who will buy this just because they're loyal to Sony though, likewise there's plenty of Nintendo fanboys who will buy anything Nintendo comes out with.
The problem with Key Cards at first is not the idea to begin with.
I think it's because Nintendo locked cartridges behind the 64gb "only" option. This has been solved at the moment, and Nintendo opening up Nintendo Switch 2 dev kits to more developers.
Most companies serving games at launch served either 64GB cartridges, and Key Cards. No, 8GB, no 10GB, etc. So, even if you bought a game that is a collection - like say Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, it would be locked behind the 64gb cart, and you'd have to pay the $80 asking price. Yes, MSRP.
I am not opposed to Key Cards, BECAUSE it
solves one of gaming's issues - data sizes. For example, a typical Call of Duty title is around 100GB. Where do you think Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which is coming out in just a few days... where do you think that's gonna go? In Download Code. Yeah, ya getting a paperweight. You're PAYING $70 for a ...CODE. Not a KEY CARD.
In
THAT case, I'd rather have the KEY CARD, than a CODE IN A FUCKING BOX.
