I trapped myself and never beat it ; ; I forgot to get the lightning spell and can't beat the winged boss in the final temple. He doesn't want to take any damage :/

Yeah you need that spell to damage him.

I really liked Zelda II too. I found it oddly refreshing. I've played no games that are similar to it.
