I don't see how anyone could say this game is good... you were right. It's great! .. the 3D effect is a bit poorly done, though. Too much space between the objects. It was as if the layering was done by a child using Colors! 3D who didn't know how to merge cells lol I've even seen the background image outside the lines of the "wall" in front of it a few times. XD I picked up the eShop version first, btw.
Yeah, some of the layering is off, like sometimes you'll see that an object in the background is in the foreground for some reason. But I'm glad you like it, it's one of the best games I've ever played and it's always good to spread the joy.
Actually, After I beat it, it went from great to just "meh". I didn't realize I was that close to the end and thought the game was only 1/4 of the way done. It was far too short and most of the weapons kinda sucked, in my opinion. It has a LOT of potential but is lacking a serious amount of depth and didn't make me want to replay it for the good ending. I got the normal ending, by the way.
I would still say you should try for the best ending. There's new guns you can get and of course if makes the game longer. And of course, there's that bonus stuff you can do. Don't know if you need the best ending for it though.
nothing unlocked and i have NO clue as to why the THE END screen is pausable to quit... It doesn't even ask if i want to carry over my clear data, so I have no clue how to unlock the chest in the Clock Room despite reading online I just have to beat the game first.
It's about the things you do during the course of the game. The clock room thing is part of the best ending, and you're gonna need to collect some panties if you want everything unlocked.
I read online about a tow rope because i was trying to figure out how to save curly, but meh. Playing the same levels and reading the same crappy dialogue doesn't interest me. If there was a level-up system or new game + where I could gain more HP as I went, I'd have a feeling of accomplishment pushing me forward while replaying it. The story was too generic for me to care about the ending, to be honest.
Did you get all the HP the first time? Cuz it is possible to miss some the first time. Also, it's not really about the actual ending for me, I'm just a fan of the real final level.
Also, about the dialogue... the version you're playing actually has what's considered the "bad" translation. The original version had a different translation where the characters had more personality and was overall more enjoyable, so yeah.
The optional guns are the Spur, the Bubbler, and the Nemesis. None are actually required for beating the game, but the Spur makes it a whole lot easier.
i looked up online after losing 4 times to the final boss rush... I had 50 HP the first time (didn't talk to the pup the second time and saved right after and forgot by the time I got to the boss) ... apparently that is the highest you can get. I didn't use a walkthrough even once for the game. they weren't hard to find. You can gain one additional HP Tank it says on playthrough 2 - I am guessing in Sanctuary.
I find it funny that it was so short with crappy 3D effects for $10 when Picdun 2: Witch's Curse is $5 and has amazing 3D visuals and is MUCH longer than Cave Story ( a lot more to find and do too)
Extended levels, a new hidden area, Prinny hat, new HP pickups, 3D graphics (obviously), and a remixed soundtrack. I'll be honest, the graphics aren't that great because it's a small indie company with a budget, but the new art style is great and makes up for it if you ask me. I'm also a fan of the remixed soundtrack, there are some tracks I enjoy a lot more than the originals.
It might be worth noting that the original game from 2004 was made entirely by just one...
I noticed he remixed some classic music in the eShop one I have that was originally in other games. I DID like how he copied Mega Man 2's red drops of doom right down to the point of using the same sound file for their dispersion upon the ground. :3
I've played the game lots of times, but I've never heard any remixes (aside from Jenka's theme, which is a remix of some folk song). Do you think you can link me to what's remixed?
lol, but I'm glad you got the game.
