Square Enix has understandably high hopes for the long awaited Final fantasy XIII and to prove it, the publisher recently shipped 1 million copies of the epic role-playing game to retailers in Japan, where the game will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 3 this Friday
Square is planning to send out an addition 300,000 units during the games first week of release as well, which means that FFXIII could very well end up selling 1.3 million copies in its first week of sale.
Square shipped 2 million copies of Final fantasy XII for the PS2 back in 2006, and that game went on to sell over 1.7 million copies in its first week, so expect equally impressive numbers this time around.
