2 Player RPG adventure type games?

My husband and I love gaming together, we play Diablo 3, WoW and other MMORPGs. However we have 3 kids and sometimes would like to be able to just pause the game, not worry about progression and frankly play a game that is a bit easier than a lot of the big names out there. We really enjoy adventure type RPG's like Baldur's Gate and there were a couple of LoTR games we played through.

Does anyone have any good recommendations? Graphics don't have to be fabulous, we just want them to be fun to play and a good way to spend a few hours.

Mmm most of isometric view Rpgs like Baldur's gate are singleplayer and offline (divine divinity, geneforge, Planescape torment, Underrail, Fallout etc.). I can't think of any good computer rpg of this kind with multiplayer.

Lite rpgs such as Torchlight 2, Grim Dawn or Path of Exile perhaps, these are easy to get into and are just straightforward Hack and Slash. These two games are fully instanced, therefore for pausing you only have to teleport back town with a scroll while other can still be playing. I suggest to avoid MOBA related games like Dota 2 or League of Legends, you can't even get up from the seat for a few moments during the 30 or 40 minutes a game last, since every minute making plays can be essential to win. And the community is rather unpleasant, but that's expected since these games are the haven for competitive hotheads and also tend to put every player under constant pressure.

I also recommend: Portal 2,dark souls ( I admit this is not a friendly suggestion, but if you want to play it multiplayer you can look for your friends or family signatures to summon them into your world and viceversa), borderlands, castle crashers, Duck Game, Roguelands..
Well I can't think in any other. Cheers.

Dynasty Warriors 7 and up, they are two players but they are soo amazingly fun. Me and my friend hopped in without any knowledge of the game and conquered the entire island of china during the war between the 3 dynasties. Super fun game, definitely want to play it if you like rpgs and like 2 player. Keep in mind though, it is only two people no more.

Have you tried playing Baldur's Gate in multiplayer? It can be fun, a those games are so replayable that it wouldn't be a chore to play through them once again.

And since you probably have, i'll leave another suggestion: There is (sort of) unkown franchise of RPGs called Two Worlds on the PC (and xbox 360 I think) you can get them for a very cheap price on steam because they got very mediocre reviews. And i'm not gonna lie, they are very mediocre games, but I bought them because (like you) I wanted to play with another person, and they're a lot of fun that way. I mean it's got loot and classes, it's not Skyrim but you can definetly enjoy them a lot with a second player.
