Today, Activision representatives held an earnings call which revealed a possible timeline for Blizzard's upcoming projects. Activision Blizzard COO and CFO Thomas Tippl stated that there might not be a Blizzard game released during this calendar year. Activision has excluded potential Blizzard profits in this year's earnings forecast.
It was later noted that if Blizzard does not release a game during 2011, we will see a minimum of two new Blizzard games in 2012. This news isn't entirely surprising, as we suspected as much at BlizzCon 2010.
It is reasonable to assume that the two titles in question will be the StarCraft II expansion Heart of the Swarm, and the anticipated Diablo III. Activision Blizzard spoke of Heart of the Swarm and mentioned that we would hear more regarding the title later this year.
