The company reported its June revenue numbers recently and they’re absolutely brutal: For the month, HTC hauled in just NT$8.7 billion (~USD$280 million), which represented more than a 60% decline from the NT$21.9 billion in revenue it reported in June 2014. This is the second lowest revenue total that HTC has reported since 2007 — seriously, this number is almost the worst HTC has performed in eight years.

I think the problem with selling Android phones is that they are all pretty similar.
If a phone brand is not one of the big Android phone makers like Samsung, Lenovo, Huawei, etc which has a lot of existing users, less popular brand will have a difficult time selling smartphones at a profitable price because a lot of people buy the hundreds of cheaper Android phone brands like Blu, Polaroid, RCA, Kodak, IRULU, POSH, etc which sell phones which cost $40-100 for very little profit on eBay, Amazon, and Craigslist.
