The official YouTube blog claimed on Wednesday that users are uploading 24 hours worth of video every minute, a slight jump from the 20-hours-per-minute mark reported in May 2009.

In mid-2007, YouTube reported that users were uploading six hours worth of video per minute. By January 2009, increased traffic led to 15 hours of video uploads crammed into each minute.

Wednesday the Google-owned company compared its new upload record to 24-hour based facts such as the earth rotating 360 degrees on its axis, a skilled climber reaching Mount Everest's summit, and the passing of 2.5 days on Jupiter.

"A day’s worth of content uploaded to YouTube every minute is a big achievement for our community and speaks to the role video plays in connecting and changing the world one upload at a time," the blog reads. "So what’s next? 30 hours? 36 hours?"

We're curious to see the ratio this Fall. With this much content, it's a wonder consumers are still paying for cable and satellite TV.

I wonder if the Youtube partner program has anything to do with this since once you get accepted as a YT partner. You can get paid money when a lot of people view your videos, or click ads on your video or channel.
