I wonder how many of the tablets are tablets which people inherit from other family members, and friends who bought the iPad 4, iPad Mini, and Nexus 10, so they have no need for their older tablet anymore, so they gave it to someone they know as a present since Tablets are pretty reliable, but people tend to buy new ones sooner because tablets are cheaper to buy at 90-500 dollars compared to 500-1000 for a PC or laptop.

I bet soon the percentage of people owning tablets will be 40-50% when Windows 8 is installed on more tablets and laptops with built-in tablets, and when Blackberry 10 Playbook gets release if the Playbook does not get discontinued by RIM, and from people getting their relatives, and friends old tablets for free, or a low price when they buy a new one, and don't need their old working tablet.

Inherited Tablets which use Google Android 2.3 or lower, Blackberry Playbook, or the HP Touch Pad may be obsolete to adults who are into playing 3D games, and the latest apps, but for someone who just use their tablet for reading comic books, eBooks, YouTube, Angry Birds, and news readers app like Google Reader, a older tablet will be good enough for them for a while since a lot of older apps work well on older tablets,

There are a lot of people who are happy with a iPad 1 or iPad 2 they got from a friend or family member when they upgraded to the iPad 3,4, or mini.

As am I, I got a Asus Google Android Nexus 7 16GB tablet for Christmas. It is so much faster when playing games then my first Android tablet I got a year a go.
