Lexar has finally announced a 256 GB SD Card. The Professional 400x 256GB SDXC UHS-I is a Class 10 card that boasts a guaranteed sustained transfer speed—at least when reading data—of 60 MB per second.

Price: $900

I'm not sure how many people will actually need a 256GB card, and the $900 price tag is expensive. This SD card would be good for people who record hours of HD video like movies, TV shows, and online video  .

400x speed also sounds very fast.

It's cool that a SD Card now has more space then the Xbox 360 and PS3 250GB model, and the size of the card is as small as a postage stamp, and as thick as a coin like lower storage cards.

I bet in the future some generic/store brand will make a similar sized card with about the same amount of space, and sell it for a lot less.
