If given the choice between seeing Green Lantern in 3D or 2D, regardless of price, which would you choose? How about Harry Potter's upcoming final adventure? Or any movie for that matter?
The Hollywood Reporter has some numbers which seem to indicate that Americans are getting sick of the 3D format.
"We continue to believe U.S. consumers are frustrated with the amount of 3D movies Hollywood is producing, especially when combined with excessive ticket prices," BTIG research analyst Richard Greenfield says.
Example: 2D ticket sales on Fandango for Green Lantern and the last Harry Potter are "outpacing 3D ticket sales in a possible latest sign of 3D fatigue." And this despite what Greenfield says has been a "massive 3D promotional push" for GL. (Check our homepage today if you want an example.)
"In addition, we suspect the darkness of 3D is starting to impact movie satisfaction," he adds.
