Based off what we saw of it at E3 through such games as Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater, the 3DS packs quite the graphical punch. Now we have some first hints at what that punch is made of.
Japanese graphics processor developer Digital Media Professional (DMP) has announced that Nintendo is using its PICA200 graphics core for the system. According to DMP, PICA200 is designed for a range of systems, including mobile phones, amusement machines, and game consoles. The architecture uses DMP's proprietary "Maestro Technology" to achieve high quality visuals with minimal power dissipation.

It should be noted that any specifications and visual demos you see at the DMP site may not necessarily be reflective of the 3DS hardware. Nintendo itself has not shared detailed hardware specs for the 3DS.
