3DS's Japanese launch lineup is somewhat unspectacular. But it does look like Nintendo will be keeping to its promise (made by CEO Satoru Iwata in a recent newspaper interview) of no post launch lull in software releases. The company gave a glimpse today at what's due immediately after launch.
Just in case you haven't been keeping up with the Japanese side of the 3DS, the system launches across the Pacific on February 26. Gamers will be able to chose from the following at launch:
* Combat of Giants Dinosaur 3D (Ubisoft)
* Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask (Level-5)
* Ridge Racer 3D (Namco Bandai)
* Samurai Warriors Chronicle (Tecmo Koei)
* Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition (Capcom)
* Puzzle Bobble 3D (Square Enix)
* Winning Eleven 3D Soccer
* Nintendogs + cats French Bull & New Friends (Nintendo)
* Nintendogs + cats Shiba & New Friends (Nintendo)
* Nintendogs + cats Toy Poodle & New Friends (Nintendo)
The software support continues into March. Here's what currently has a final release date:
* 3/3: Super Monkey Ball 3D (Sega)
* 3/17: Steel Diver (Nintendo)
* 3/17: Splinter Cell 3D (Ubisoft)
* 3/24: Dead or Alive Dimensions (Tecmo Koei)
* 3/24: Gundam The 3D Battle (Namco Bandai)
* 3/24: Rabbids Time Travel (Ubisoft)
* 3/31: BlazBlue Continuum Shift II (Arc System Works)
* 3/31: Pro Baseball Famisuta 2011 (Namco Bandai)
Of particular note in the above is Steel Diver. This will be the second first party 3DS game following Nintendogs + Cats.
Due for release at some unspecified point in March are:
* Asphalt 3D Nitro Racing (Konami)
* Naruto Shippuuden Nin Rittai Emaki! Saikyou Ninkai Kessen!! (Takara Tomy)
* Nikoli Puzzle (Hamster)
* Pro Baseball Spirits 2011 (Konami)
* Shanghai 3D Cube (Sunsoft)
* The Sims 3 (Electronic Arts)
* My Garden 3D (Electronic Arts)
* Virus Shooter XX (Dorasu)
If you're planning on importing a 3DS, it looks like you're going to be busy in the month after launch.
And if you're holding out for the domestic 3DS, you may be busy at launch. The domestic 3DS is expected to release in March, and with all those games out in Japan then, we can presumably expect a massive launch lineup.
