Nintendo US revealed its sales of 3DS and Reggie says that the 3DS sold approximately 400,000 units in its first 7 days following its 27th March launch.

NPD Group stated that the 3DS was outsold in its US debut month by its predecessor, the Nintendo DS (Nintendo DS sold more in March than the 3DS most probably due to the released of Pokemon White and Black plus its price tag that are 100 bucks cheaper than the 3DS).

Nintendan has lost his house.........

Sadly it was lower than I expected.

That's what I thought. But hey, I can't blame em, not great games are out.

Maybe the 3DS's popularity will pick up massively when more expected games, such as Zelda and Kid Icarus and of course Mario, are released.

Well they smashed Australia, haha. Then again there are a tonne more people living in the US than Australia, and Australia is a fairly active nation, not so big on games.

Oh, Reggie, always the bearer of bad news, har har. I'm really surprised at this...But, as Y64M pointed out, the sales will pick up immensely when the good games come out.

It'll all get better when the major games are out. My bet is that Ocarina of Time and Mario 3DS are going to push the console sales for the opening weeks well over a million.

they shouldnt have been so stupid at launch to not even have 1 good game

Oh man... the neighbours are not going to like the news I've got for them...

Nintendan, you can live in my back yard if you want. I've only got a few basic rules.

1. Don't enter the House.

2. Don't Speak to Me.

3. Watch out for my Giant Shy Guy Eating Dog.

I just realised that the DS sold more than the 3DS. Kinda funny in a way, but also kinda bad.

And it's okay, SMF, I'll live in the trees with the birds.

Relatively speaking, the 3DS actually had a pretty good launch line up. I mean the DS' line was just awful, and look where it is now.
So there's really no need to worry that it's not selling as well as you'd hoped in these early days.

It's all in due time. Nintendo has stated that they wanted to focus on the 3rd parties at launch this time around, to give them more of a chance to flourish. Considering the fact that many top sellers are usually Nintendo first party, I say its a good kind of risk. With the example of Capcom with Street Fighter, other top tier developers will likely follow foot and bring their best selling franchises to the 3DS. More well developed games= more content consumers and sales.

Due to the large price difference and already large library of games established, seeing the DS and PSP outsell the 3DS is not entirely surprising.

You have to remember there are many in the demographic of waiting patiently for future releases (Zelda, Mario, Star Fox, etc) and those who wait for the inevitable design changes and future revisions of the 3DS, a repeating Nintendo tradition.

But like I said, all in due time. After the Summer Drought, holiday releases will start picking up and the market will continue to show improving results.

I agreed with your points. I also think that's the reasons why the sales of 3DS didn't reach more than what they had expected. Some people are waiting to buy it once the good games are out and don't forget that DS is 100 bucks cheaper than 3DS.

That's an unfair comparison, though. The DS may have sold more units in the month of March than the 3DS bid, but the DS had the whole month in which to accrue those sales, whereas the 3DS only had a week.
