i want to know if i order the 3ds xl from japan will it be region locked because i really want the white 3ds,and if it is,is there a way to unlock it to play american games?

Every 3DS is region locked. But apparently you can play Japanese regular DS games on an American or European 3DS.

I heard rumours if you send it to Nintendo to be fixed they'll change the region or something, but then you couldn't play Japanese games on it.

how come on nintendo 3ds settings(other settings) it will say you can change the region when you go to profile?
Because it doesn't, that's why.
That's not region lock, that's just for the browser and eShop.
