One of the hotter rumors of the day is that Sony will make an announcement tomorrow for the on sale date of the American version of the 40GB PS3, which will retail for $399. The expected release date for this new machine is November 2, so it can hit the stores in time for the holidays. Now, all of this is good news, you will agree.
The bad news? Like the 40GB Euro version of the console, the American version will not be backward compitible. It will also lose a couple of USB slots and a memory card reader, which are debatably unimportant, but losing backward compatibility kinda sucks. Not that we would encourage any kind of accompanying flame war or anything like that.
QUOTE the American version will not be backward compitible.
that's the only reason I won't buy it
