In May 2008, Roku launched the very first player to stream entertainment to the television. We called this device “the Netflix player,” since Netflix was the first available channel. For the first time, consumers could instantly stream thousands of TV and movie titles on their televisions thanks to the power of the Internet. With the introduction of that first streaming player, we pioneered the streaming era of television.

Congrats to Roku for selling 5 Million Settop boxes. I wonder if it could transform into a casual gaming game console if it can find a way to attract game developers to make casual games, and less graphically intensive games like Megaman, Pac-Man, Tetris, Pong, Final Fantasy 1-2, and Golden Sun for the Roku Settop box.
The Roku could be good way to convince average users to try out cloud gaming like Onlive, Gaikai, and similar cloud game streaming services since all people who use the Roku to stream Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon already have a fast and reliable internet connection otherwise there is little reason for them to subscribe to Netflix if their internet service is slow.
