5 (or more) Things To Make A Better 2-D Mario Game

1. More detailed Backgrounds/2.5D . New Super Mario Bros Wii didnt look too good. the camera was too zoomed out and there was no detail.on the background. They should have put more detail like in Donkey Kong Country Returns.there was nothing going on in the background(NSMBW) at all.just the usual hills and stuff. Why not add a feature where you can go into the background?'

2.More Moves. In Super Mario Bros 3,they made alot of new moves. Same with Super Mario 64 and Sunshine (3d games). I think two moves that would be good in a 2-d mario games are the side somersault and punching..That would add more things to do.Another fun thing is if you punched an enemy,it would go unconcious and you could pick them up,and throw them(like ice blocks).

3.Keep the good Power-Ups but still add new ones. Like the Hammer Suit,Blue Shell,Tanooki Suit. All the good power-ups never stay. They should keep most of them like they did in super Mario Galaxy 2. Another thing they should have done is they never should have made the Ice Flower a power-up.It was just a down-grade of the penguin suit. Why not make something else?

4.Add more rideable things. The only new one in NSMBW was the clown car, which was fun but it was only used for a single boss fight. Maybe add more things you could ride like Yoshi. What about a crab or dolphin or something you could ride underwater.

5..Add more enemies.A games always funner with more enemies.Heres some thwey couldhave added in NSMBW

World 1:Ptooie,Chargin Chuck,Amazin Flyin Hammer Bro,Nipper Plant
World 2:Shy Guy,Bandit,Rex,Volcano Lotus,Ninji
World 3:Bumpty,Mr Blizzard,Spindrift,Buster Beetle
World 4:Strollin Stu,Cataquack,
World 5:Akiki,Scuttlebug,Moneybag,

6.LET YOSHI STAY WITH YOU!

Yoshi leaving you at the end of the level was the lamest idea ever.the game would have been 1.5x better if they didnt do that. What was the point of it?

Disagree, neutral, agree, disagree, neutral.
For 1, the backgrounds don't really make the game. That's why they're called BACKgrounds. The ones in NSMB and DKCR were good enough for me.
For 4, we don't really need much more ridables (except maybe moar mine cart, but I don't care for those. :/)

You also rode these things you know:

But I actually think more rideable stuff wouldn't be too bad, it'd be a lot like the animal buddies from the Donkey Kong Country series.

About reason 1, backgrounds were never super fancy or detailed, and NSMBWii is no different.
This

isn't much different than

And about the screen being zoomed out, it was to make room for all 4 players.

Any of you played Donkey Kong Country Returns? The backgrounds were amazing in that game, and it wouldnt hurt to put stuff like that in a Mario game.Or like honeybloom galaxy in SMG2

I know what you mean by that, DKCR was a good example of 2.5D at it's best. But I don't know if Mario would go well with 2.5D for a platformer, though I guess it would be cool, like Honeybloom Galaxy.

Punching and somersaulting could be cool as well, as well as the odd Shy Guy or two, heh.

2.5D,couldnt think of the name.thats what i would like to see in a mario game.It would work really well with the 3ds.
