Nintendo of America on Monday released Thanksgiving week sales figures for its Wii, DS and DSi. All three systems garnered huge interest (and equally huge sales) from holiday shoppers. In fact, more than 2.5 systems were sold every second between November 22 and 28, according to the publisher.

Specifically, upward of 550,000 Wii systems and one million DS and DSi handhelds were purchased during the time frame. The latter number "surpasses the all-time handheld hardware sales record set by Game Boy Advance during the Thanksgiving 2002 week," Nintendo stated. To be fair, the figure also encompasses two iterations of the portable and not just one.

"Holiday shoppers are finding value in our products' prices, and through a gameplay experience that is unique to Nintendo," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing in an official release.

December Wii and DS(i) sales figures are likely to remain steady thanks to the recent and impending releases of games like New Super Mario Bros. Wii and The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks respectively.
