Read from the verge:

Market research firm IDC uses supply chains to estimate just how many handheld gaming systems have shipped around the world, and creates spending forecasts. When I asked IDC market research analyst Lewis Ward if he’d be willing to isolate SteamOS and Windows gaming handhelds from that data, he said yes.
So here are the estimated combined shipments of the Steam Deck, and the Windows-based Asus ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, and MSI Claw from 2022 through 2024, and an estimate for 2025:

2022 1,620,000
2023 2,867,000
2024 1,485,000
2025 (Estimate) 1,926,000

Add it up, and that’s just under 6 million shipments in three years. One way to view that: it’s small and it’s not really growing. IDC’s forecasting under 2 million shipments in 2025, rather than any major expansion.

But out of those 6 million shipments, the lion’s share have been the Steam Deck itself, according to IDC’s estimates. All of the 2022 shipments are the Steam Deck, and Ward tells me upwards of 50 percent of the 2023 shipments and 48 percent of the 2024 shipments are the Deck as well. Doing the math, Valve has now shipped upwards of 3.7 million Steam Decks and has quite possibly crossed 4 million by now.

I feel hand held PC market is small and not really growing according to the article because a lot of gamers don't feel like holding a tablet sized gaming handheld when playing PC games for over 30 minutes.

While that could be a factor, you could use external controller/gamepad for playing games on it though.

That is true, it is possible to use a controller, and a stand to make gaming on a handheld PC more comfortable for over 30 minutes.

Carrying an extra controller can be inconvenient for people with smaller carrying bags. Buying a separate controller can be expensive for poorer gamers who have less money to spend on gaming controllers.

Indeed true enough factors.

Steam probably has exclusives people never heard of, good or bad. I guess it depends on the buyer's intent. Because you know they are running emulators too.

I think some PC buyers may not want to buy a Gaming handheld PC because of peer pressure from friends, family, and co-workers who mostly play games on traditional gaming electronics like a game console, Desktop or laptop PC, smartphones and tablets.

More shy people may want to avoid being called weird/strange or a Beginners/Nocice PC gamer for using a handheld gamimg pc which is less common and less customizable than a desktop gaming PC, so some shy people choose to play games on a game console, desktop or laptop PC to fit in with more mainstream gamers.

Some more modest people who dislike luxury items may not want too much pubic attention from using a Gaming handheld PC which may more likely to be seen as a luxury item that attract attention for being a luxury item compared to a game console, laptop or desktop PC which is less likely to attract a lot of attention from strangers.
