I say yes if this truly happens, PS3/4 Gamers need to be able to play with Xbox 360/One and PC gamers.

I think it would be a challenge to make seamless, but would be really cool. I could see how a few games could be tied in to different platforms and be successful. Not without work though. Where we are going in the gaming world.... just crazy.

I agree, bit doubt it. The servers are made differently.
not to the point that they can't be slightly modified or reworked to recognize PS4/Xbox one. The games are all being made on the same specs so it's just a matter of coding the servers to work between the two systems.

Yeah, and I think if they set out with the intention of doing so, it will be much easier to integrate systems.

I read comments on blogs that Microsoft tried combining PC Gamers with console gamers once, and it did not end up very well. The PC gamers ended up winning most of the matches, and the console gamers did not win as much.

The PC players may have an unfair advantage because they can use multiple monitors, quickly change the sensitivity settings on their mouse for actions which require more accuracy like shooting other gamers from very far away. There are also keyboards and mice where you can program button combinations into one button to start a button combo by only pressing one button.  Some Sneaky PC Gamers can also modify the files, and the game to cheat in online gaming.

There are also videos on YouTube showing Keyboard and Mouse performing better than Controller in multi-player FPS matches.

The games being made the same could help make things more fair, but the faster hardware on a Gaming PC could make console gamers who game against a PC gamer have a harder time winning in certain games like Real Time Strategy, First person shooters, and MOBA games like League of Legends, and Dota 2.

Gamers on faster Gaming PC may have a speed advantage over Console Gamers because the video Frames Per Second on a faster Gaming PC with a Nvidia Titan Video Card, 32GB of RAM, Quad Core Intel i7 CPU,and SSD would load scenes and see many feet farther if there is a setting to see many feets farther because the PC can handle the extra feets of view.

Also, there are PC monitor's which are ultra high resolution like 2560x1440-4K , so they can see a clearer and larger area in the game compared to a console game which usually have video which is 720P-1080P because there are few TVs which have greater than 1080P displays, and the console's hardware is not fast enough to display a 2K-4K video game.

PC Gamers who know how to hack can also use their hacking skills to hack the server, other characters, and game to let hackers win matches easier. I think it is harder to hack, and use mods in console to greatly improve gameplay and speed.

I think Hacking is worse in First Person Shooters, RTS, and Racing games where speed boost can make it impossible for honest gamers to fairly win because the non-hacker can't keep up.

IIRC, cross-platform play was available in the PS2 era, but the game developers didn't want to supply their own online multiplayer, so in the seventh generation, they just gave that power to the console vendors.

I am sorry if my mentality is not of a winner, but I don't really care PC gamers can have some advantages, in its core it would mean playing with friends than only have them for other platforms. Cross-platform playing is something I feel could be done today but it is not being pushed.

Also, if they can make it optional, then it shouldn't matter as much if you just feel you're not match for PC gamers. You dive when you feel confident and test about it. I may be optimistic but I think that not because the tools are there means you will find people abusing them often. The altering of the files can be checked by the system, like Gaia online and other games used to do it. So they limit the access to the people taht have the version as it should be.

Game developers are likely to take advantage of it as they have the most to gain from having as vast an audience as possible and generally don't care that much about specific consoles.

If it is online stuff, than it is totally possible. I don't really care a lot about this though.
Unless Xbox One is truly a PC inside...

The PS4 and Xbox One maybe on the level with regular PCs and laptops, but consoles are not on the same level of Expensive Gaming PCs with 3.0-4.0 Quad Core CPU, 16GB of RAM, 500GB SSD and  Nvidia GTX 6GB Titan video card, or less powerful more affordable Gaming PCs with a Quad Core 2.0-3.0 GHz CPU, 8-16GB of RAM, 500GB-1TB hard drive, and Nvidia GTX 650-660 1-2GB video card.
