There’s some pretty cool stuff that happens in the manga post-season 2 material, and there’s enough to where they don’t have to have half the seasons be anime original again.

Who knows, to add insult to injury, the novels ended in 2010, the year season 2 came out.

That's actually a good thing, nothing worse than a anime starting when the source material itself is still just getting going.
