Essentially, (if you don't feel like reading it
) Miyamoto is debating whether or not to remake A Link to the Past, or Majora's Mask. A very hard decision, indeed!

Coming from a long-term Zelda fan, through all the hills and valleys that the series has brought, I am honestly in limbo on which one I'd rather see. Although, I guess it depends on how they present A Link to the Past. Majora's Mask is one of - if not #1 - my favorite Zelda games of all time; it was dark, had mystery, and presented heavy solitude and emptiness in a world full of life and creative characters. For Majora's Mask to be remade on the 3DS would be absolutely incredible. The way Ocarina's 3D world was re-imaged for the 3DS presented a huge success, as it felt like both a nostalgic and new adventure for me. Grezzo could undoubtedly pull it off. The mere thought of holding a Majora's Mask game box for the 3DS is drool-worthy in itself hahahah.
Now, in terms of A Link to the Past, I have two slightly different opinions, depending on how they potentially design the game.
1.) If they re-create the game in an overhead, 2D world (Minish Cap, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, etc.) with 3D effects, I wouldn't be too excited. Unless they redid the art style to match that of Toon Link, then it'd be a different story; I'd be a bit more excited about that. Either way, a 2D world on a 3DS doesn't seem too enticing, as it has the power to look so much more beautiful (Kid Icarus, anyone?). Sure, the 3D effect could be neat for some moments of the game, but nothing too "omg I need that game plxxx" worthy.
2.) If they re-create the game in the 3D style of Ocarina, Twilight Princess, etc. (over the shoulder), my opinion on Majora's Mask would be nearly meaningless. I think a true feat of strength for something like a remake would lie in an entirely new light if this were the case; to take an overhead, 2D game and convert it to an over the shoulder, 3D game would be incredible. Perhaps they don't have this in mind at all, but it would win me over in an instant. I loved so much about A Link to the Past, and to see that Hyrule and those dungeons in a 3D plane would be incredible. If they decide to take ALttP and remake it, I sure as heck hope that they take this route. A lot would work would be needed, but I think if they pulled it off Nintendo would receive some old fans back, as well as gain some new ones
What are your views on this debate? Which game would you rather see? Do you think a fully 3D rendition of A Link to the Past would beat out Majora's Mask? Discuss
