The CEOs of Microsoft and Adobe had a secret meeting recently. What did they talk about? Apple.
Nick Bilton reports that "one of the main thrusts of the discussion was Apple and its control of the mobile phone market and how the two companies could team up in the battle against Apple. A possible acquisition of Adobe by Microsoft were among the options."
Microsoft buying Adobe? Sounds pretty crazy, except that it almost happened before, back when Microsoft was still the most important technology company on the planet, a source tells Bits. The talks were frozen because at the time Microsoft was nervous about the Justice Department coming a knockin' with some antitrust concerns.
Today, it would just seem silly. And I really don't know how it'd help them fight Apple, who seems to be doing just fine without Adobe software on the iPhone. Stop me if I'm wrong, but it seems like it's Adobe that was desperate to get on the iPhone, not the other way around. Besides, remember Microsoft's last major attempted acquisition? Yeesh. [Bits]

I wonder how this turn out. It sort of reminds me of the time MS was thinking about buying Yahoo. If MS buys Adobe, they have control of flash which is heavily used on a lot of websites like Youtube, and New Ground.
