Following up after 2012's big summer blockbuster, Marvel came up with a weekly TV series (airing on Tuesdays, might need to check your local listings to find what time/channel exactly) that follows the exploits of a team of SHELD agents as they deal with the questions and issues resulting from the world after the Battle of New York which revealed the presence of Gods and Super heroes to the world at large.
The first episode aired this tuesday (the 24th).
Did you watch the first episode? If so, what did you think of it?
I was told to stay away from it, its a huge bust with terrible acting. I'm just going off of friends recommendations but they said it was inadequate for a Marvel production.
The acting wasn't bad at all. (At least I didn't think so...) So I don't know why they'd say that. (Or what they're expecting for acting either.)
I think you should give it a shot anyway. Since you never know, you might like it. (Plus even if you find the acting not that great, it might have other redeeming qualities to make up for it... Like an interesting story.)
I don't follow much about ratings since they shift around so much. (I'm sort of not surprised that shows would see a drop of ratings from episode 1 to episode 2 because the first episode is everyone tuning in to see if they're interested. The real test for season 1 is to see how many stick around for episode 10. ) And for Agents of SHIELD, a lot of people expected this to be Avengers on the small screen. But that was not the intention. (There may be an Avengers live action project at some point, but not right now.) So some people may not return because they had their expectations far too high.
I think episode 2 was pretty good, all things considered. Granted I'm not expecting Hollywood level budgets and special effects. (This is a TV show so it's to be expected they aren't going to spend 2 million an episode on effects. ) Though there was a cheesy scene with the life raft (which wouldn't work) but otherwise it was good.
I wasn't too impressed with the pilot, but I thought I would give it another try and the quality has improved. I'm hoping they eventually stop overplaying the English and Scottish accents as they sound ridiculous.
