The co-director of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix and Kingdom Hearts III has revealed Square Enix hasn't ruled out putting the game on PS4 or Xbox One.

Speaking to IGN, Tai Yasue explains that from the moment development on Kingdom Hearts III was discussed, Square Enix planned to release HD 1.5 Remix and HD 2.5 Remix in order to set the scene for latecomers to the franchise.

"When we first came up with the idea for Kingdom Hearts III, it was always 1.5, then 2.5 and we were always thinking about those three titles at the same time," he explains. "I think [putting the games on PS4] is something we’ll explore. We understand what our players want, so we will explore the possibility. I’m not making any announcements though, we can’t make any announcements yet!"

But while Sony gamers would likely appreciate the refresher, with Kingdom Hearts III heading to Xbox One as well as PS4, arguably it's Xbox owners that need the earlier installments of the game more than anyone else. When asked about whether an Xbox One edition of 1.5 and 2.5 could ever see the light of day, Yasue was hesitant. While the initial reasoning behind this was thought to be the initial exclusivity deal with Sony, it seems resources play just as much of a part.

"It’s a big old question," he says. "There’s a lot of things we need to think of when we consider consoles. One of them is what our players want, so we will definitely consider that. But there’s also schedule constraints, as we really don’t want the development of Kingdom Hearts III going later, so we have that to think about. We’ll consider all these things and come to a decision."

Great as this is, I'm getting them for PS3 and wouldn't be happy if they came out for PS4.

This would be great. It mean I wouldn't have to buy both a  ps3, and a ps4 in order to play all of the games. Kind of glad I've been waiting.

Oh. They will. These are the guys who put their games on a bunch of separate systems. They'll do it.

Which means I'll have to get a PS3 eventually....

Yeah, but I mean for the other versions of the 1.5, and 2.5. I heard they had to redo some stuff because they lost information between those, and the originals for the PS2. I'm just wondering if there'll be any major differences between the PS3, and PS4 versions.

That would be great though I wish they'd just come out with the game already. All these inbetween games have been cool, and all, but I'd like to see them move on with the main story line.

they can't proceed with the main storyline if they had so much side stuff to cover.

True, and the side stories have definitely been well worth it. I'm just impatient, and production keeps getting delayed for moving forward. They've been having some trouble within the company apparently.

only trouble I heard was about using the game engine. Otherwise production has been on track for KH 3 of late.

I was basing that on a conversation I had the day before about Square Enix possibly going under due to poor management, and the way they've been handling Final Fantasy. Aside from a similar rant I found I didn't see much on it so I think it was mainly just talk. Though with some basis to it. I'm really not all that familiar with the company aside from KH, and hearing about releases for FF, I've never played any of those games. I wouldn't be able to say one way or the other on how much they've declined. I just enjoy their games.

That's pretty much all I've heard too though it feels like it's been delayed more times. Probably just estimated release dates that I'm recalling. But seeing a preorder for the end of 2014 on Amazon earlier this year got me pretty hopeful. Oh. Well. I still have a couple other KH games I need to catch up on.
