AMD said that the Radeon R9 will be released on 2 September with a $249 (£150) price tag attached to it.
The firm bragged that the graphics card had left its competitors "green with envy", but obviously - until gamers get their mitts on the Radeon R9 - we only have AMD's word for it.

"The AMD Radeon R9 285 graphics card is faster than Nvidia’s GTX 760.1," the company claimed. "That’s because we designed it for a single purpose: to play demanding PC games at maximum detail better than any card in its class." ®

This sounds like a good video card for PC gamers who want to maximize their games video quality without spending too much money on a video card.

I think it should be supported well since AMD is one of most popular video card makers for gamers on a budget because Nvidia is sometimes more expensive than AMD cards.

This is probably just a regular video card which don't have non-gaming features like 3DTV on it to lower the price tag.

It's amazing what people will pay for that stuff.

I agree it is amazing what people will pay for computer upgrades like video cards, but the same could be said about consoles like the Wii U which cost $299, and the Xbox One and PS4 which both cost $399 for the cheapest console without any games.

$249.99 is a fair price for a video card which can play  new PC games at higher video quality settings and higher resolutions like 1080P, 2K, and 4K.
